Piazza del Miracoli, Pisa Italy

As we staying in Lucca we arrived in Pisa on a day trip via bus. Evidently it was a holiday, a Sunday I believe & the place was really crowded. The bus trip from Lucca to Pisa turned out to be very simple although we did get a bit confused as to exactly we were to go for the return trip.

It was actually funny there as almost everyone was taking photos of themselves "holding up" the leaning tower. Would have been interesting to go up the tower but the lines were very long

I did manage to do a few sketches here and there although it generally meant that we had to either have coffee or lunch so that we had a place to sit down. Was difficult to have lunch and not have it cost

The marketplace outside the walls of the church were covered with shops, mostly covered with "T" shirt shops & tourist "trinkets"......probably all made in China!

Here is the "Baptismal" (Battistero, 1153) in Pisa, a very interesting structure & we were able to get inside.

Inside the "Duomo" at the Piazza del Miracoli. Amazing ceiling, very unique and can't remember see any others like it in Italy.

Street musicians in Pisa

A model of the Pizza del Duomo inside the museum which also held some interesting contempory art as well as relics from days past.

It was a nice trip to Pisa despite the crowds and the cloudy, muggy  weather! On subsequent days I managed to ride a bike over from Lucca to Pisa and back.
