Rome to Siena via train station in Florence.  We had an easy train ride with the 1st and longest leg on a high speed train to Florence which reached 135 mph. We then switched to a local train that hit every town until we reached Siena. There wasn't any air conditioning & it was a miserable trip of 1 1/2 hrs. Once in Siena we took a cab to the Hotel as we were tired mostly from the heat. Staying at the Hotel Italia which is outside of the old walls but only a short bus ride into the central part of town.

The Duomo "skyline" from a park where we rode to on Bus # 10.

The Campo was a "mad House" as the City of Siena was preparing for the Palio, the ancient horse race through the Campo. This is the Palazzo which houses the City office as well as a museum. In the next post we will have a lot of photos from the Palio & the dinner part after.
