The view from our room window. THe church dates from the 12th Century but has had many renovations. Amazing that they would have built the church so close to the waters edge. I imagine that before the breakwater was built the high surf would have taken quite a toll out of the lower part of the structure. The beach, despite being rocky seemed to be a favorite of the locals as it was full most days, except the day that it rained. Main Street Vernazza on a lazy, rainy day! Was nice as the train loads of tourist and sunbathers stayed away. |
